Newcastle recently rejected a bid from another Premier League team, Liverpool, worth £120 million. This was £30 million less than the club's asking price for Isak, a Sweden international.
As the speculation about his future continues, Isak has been training on his own as Newcastle prepares for the upcoming 2025-26 season.
When asked about Isak's position at the club after a recent friendly match against Espanyol, Howe remained optimistic.
“We've had discussions and it's clear that we can't involve him with the team right now,” Howe said.
“I don't know how long this will last. That's the latest.”
“I'd rather not say more about this. Our discussions with Isak must remain private, but it's clear that I can't involve him with the team at the moment,” Howe added.
“Isak is still a member of the team and has a future at Newcastle. From our perspective, everyone at the club would like to see him back with the team. But the situation has to be right for that to happen.”
