Hemir, who is 22 years old, will spend the entire campaign with Moreirense FC, a Portuguese team that has started the season strongly with three wins from three matches under the leadership of manager Vasco Botelho da Costa.
Kristjaan Speakman, Sunderland's sporting director, discussed the move and explained that the club aimed to find the ideal club for Hemir to help him develop into a valuable player for the first team in the future.
"We searched throughout the summer to identify the best loan opportunity for Hemir," Speakman said. "We believe that this club and environment are perfect for him to take the next step in his career, and we wish him well for the season ahead."
Other players who are available to leave the club include Abdoullah Ba, Nazariy Rusyn, Ian Poveda, and Timothee Pembele. Midfielder Alan Browne may also depart before the transfer window closes as manager Régis Le Bris continues to streamline his squad.
