Madueke returned to England from the Club World Cup to complete the transfer after making 5 appearances as Chelsea made their way towards the final. Chelsea eventually made it to the final and won the tournament by beating Paris Saint-Germain 3-0.
Cucurella was puzzled by his ex-team-mate's decision to leave while Chelsea were on the verge of winning the silverware. In a recent interview, Cucurella shared his thoughts on the situation.
"Yes, I think it was strange," Cucurella said. "Although he wasn't playing as a starter, I think he missed a good opportunity. Everything that was happening regarding his future might have delayed him a couple of days if he had waited until the tournament was finished."
Cucurella believes Madueke could have waited one more day to complete the transfer without losing out on anything. Madueke leaves Chelsea after three seasons, scoring 20 goals in 92 appearances across all competitions. He joins a new-look Arsenal squad under manager Mikel Arteta.
Madueke's transfer is part of a major revamp at Arsenal, with several high-profile signings arriving at the club this summer.
