This is an unusual decision for Tottenham, but Frank believes it's essential to give players as many minutes as possible before the new season begins next month. By playing an extra game, the team can put their players in the best physical condition possible.
"We wanted to add an extra game to our schedule to give as many players as many match minutes as possible," Frank explained. "This will help us to put our players in the best position, physically. We will play two even, strong teams, and they will play for around 60 to 75 minutes, possibly more."
By the end of the game, 22 players will have gained valuable match experience, which will benefit the team before their upcoming tour. Wycombe, on the other hand, is in the midst of their preseason, having already played four friendly matches against Brighton, Sutton, Cheltenham, and Barnet.
It's worth noting that James Maddison has started training with his teammates after recovering from his knee injury. The squad will be preparing for the game against Wycombe as well as their upcoming Asian tour, where they will face Arsenal in Hong Kong in the first-ever North London derby outside of the UK.
