Simons had the choice between joining Tottenham and Chelsea, but ultimately decided to move to North London for over £50 million. Van de Ven played a role in bringing Simons to the club, and is now helping him settle in to life in the Premier League.
Van de Ven says he speaks with Simons regularly and is happy to help him with any questions or concerns he may have about playing in England. He also notes that Simons' ability to speak multiple languages has made it easier for him to connect with his teammates.
"I talk to him a lot, and I think it's also helpful that he speaks many languages, so he can communicate with a lot of players," Van de Ven said.
Van de Ven is confident in Simons' abilities and believes he can make a big impact for the team. He was impressed with Simons' performance when he came on as a substitute in the 2-2 draw against Bodo/Glimt, and thinks he has the potential to create something special.
Van de Ven also reflected on the team's performance as a whole, admitting that they struggled against the Norwegian side, but praised their comeback to earn a point.
