However, Kelleher often found himself playing second fiddle to Alisson Becker and only got game time when the Brazilian goalkeeper was injured or when cup games came up. This limited playing time was not enough for Kelleher, who wanted to play more regularly in the Premier League.
The arrival of Giorgi Mamardashvili further reduced Kelleher's playing time, and he eventually joined Brentford. In an interview, Kelleher talked about his decision to leave Liverpool and how it was easier than he thought it would be.
"It was a big decision, but the timing was right for me," Kelleher said. "I was at Liverpool for 10 years, and I was mostly the second-choice goalkeeper. I wanted to play more regularly, and I felt that I could do that elsewhere in the Premier League."
Kelleher has made 14 appearances for Brentford this season, after making just 25 league appearances for Liverpool. He is forging his own path in the Premier League.
