At the age of 32, Townsend has decided to join Kanchanaburi Power FC in Thailand.
Before moving to Thailand, Townsend played for several teams in England, including Newcastle and Tottenham, as well as in Turkey with Antalyaspor.
After playing for Everton and Luton Town, Townsend moved to Turkey to play for Antalyaspor, but has now decided to take on a new challenge in Thailand.
In addition to Townsend, Kanchanaburi Power FC has also acquired Ezequiel Aguero, a skilled striker who was a top scorer for the Malaysian national team.
