Before the match, Loic Badé bid farewell to the Sevilla fans as he prepares to join Bayer Leverkusen. Fifteen minutes into the game, it was clear that Sevilla were still adjusting to the absence of their centre-back.
Sevilla had a chance to take the lead early on when Dodi Lukebakio played a one-two with Juanlu Sanchez, but the striker's powerful shot went just wide of the post. Despite being on top, Sevilla struggled to create clear chances against Getafe.
Akor Adams was wasteful in front of goal, but Sevilla's pressure eventually paid off in the 45th minute. Juanlu Sanchez delivered a superb cross from the right side, which forced Juan Iglesias to divert the ball into his own net.
Getafe almost regained the lead before half-time, but Orjan Nyland denied Mauro Arambarri on the rebound. Christantus Uche also missed a good chance to equalize.
After the break, Getafe took the lead again. Luis Milla worked hard in the middle and created an opportunity for Adrian Liso, who scored his second goal in as many games with a cool finish past Nyland.
Sevilla responded quickly, forcing David Soria to make several saves, including one from Andres Castrin and another from Nemanja Gudelj.
Despite the pressure, Getafe held on for a ninth away win in their last 13 matches and a third consecutive victory over Sevilla.
Adrian Liso was named Flashscore Man of the Match for his impressive performance.
