Speaking to a media outlet, Matthaus believes that Kane will be considered for the Ballon d'Or award, but only if Bayern Munich achieves success in European competitions or if Kane wins the World Cup next year.
Matthaus noted that Kane's performances have been impressive, and it's surprising that he only came 13th in the Ballon d'Or voting. However, he emphasized that Kane's success will depend on the team's performance.
Matthaus also compared Kane's impact on the game to that of Robert Lewandowski, who won the Champions League with FC Bayern in 2020 and was later named World Player of the Year.
Kane has also been successful with the English national team, scoring 76 goals and securing qualification for the 2026 World Cup with two goals against Latvia on Tuesday.
With his impressive form and potential success in major tournaments, Kane could be among the favorites to win the Ballon d'Or award, making him the first Englishman to win the award since Michael Owen in 2001.
